Next Meeting November 1!
On Oct. 4 the Capital Tarot Society had a lively discussion on “Tarot and the Law of Attraction: Making Your Wishes Come True.” We discussed the idea that thoughts and energy help to create our reality.
We discussed how to raise our vibrational energy through a variety of means ranging from art to exercise to meditating on tarot cards. We also discussed how tarot can be used to help you uncover your blocks to manifestation. A resource sheet was distributed that included a list of Law of Attraction tarot decks and an e-book, among other resources. We ended by doing a Law of Attraction spread designed to help us uncover and manifest our wishes.
It was super fun but also very informative and enriching - big thanks to our awesome October presenter!
Next month's meeting will be on November 1 and we will enjoy a timely presentation on the Day of the Dead. Day of the Dead is NOT Halloween and is for many an occasion of great spiritual significance. We're all excited to learn about this holiday's cross-disciplinary influence on Tarot.
But before that, we are looking forward to our October 25th psychic shop field trip!

Next Meeting June 7!
Emily will be discussing readings for strangers and faraway querents.
Reading for strangers and folks you can't see can be very stressful
because it takes away the comfort of being able to make inferences from
information you may already know about the querent or the from the
querent's appearance and reactions during the reading. Some may also
wonder if geographic distance somehow diminishes the accuracy of the
reading. This presentation is aimed at assuaging these concerns through
a little discussion of the presenter's experience performing cold
readings and a LOT of practical exercise.

Choose the Right Deck!
Report on February 2014 Presentation
At the February 1 meeting, I presented on choosing the right
deck. Although that would seem to be a
completely personal endeavor, I tried to give some perspective by considering
what types of decks might go together to make a good working tarot collection
and which types might work best for different jobs.
Categories to
consider for your collection are, of course, your old tried and true, a
Rider-Waite-Smith version that appeals to you, decks that follow different
esoteric systems, an historic reproduction or two, maybe another pips deck
(non-scenic minors), and some new agey, intuitive, gentle and comforting, and humorous
decks. And of course you will want a
deck in your favorite theme and/or art style.
And don’t forget a deck that challenges you, with its meanings or
artwork. That’s where the learning is!
We discussed the decks
that might match up with the different things you do with tarot: read for yourself; read for friends, the
public, and kids; and study and learning.
I brought some example decks along, and everyone seemed to
really enjoy the show-and-tell part
of the presentation!
To encourage everyone to try using historic and other decks with non-scenic minors, I handed
out some numerology information and a “pips worksheet” for homework, and did a
quick demonstration of the “OldestSpread,” which is a great way to get started with pips!
Folks also enjoyed using the “Interview with a Tarot Deck Spread” to get the inside scoop on
decks they had never used before.
And, as always, we had great fun talking tarot, showing off
our new decks, and reading for each other!
See you March 1!
